My name's Michelle Mata, or "Mich" for short. I'm from the southernmost part of Texas, in an area called the Rio Grande Valley that lies right near the border of Mexico. Once you live there for so many years (or forever if you never escape), you come to know it as "The Valley". Though I've had the opportunity to venture other parts of the world, I can confirm that the old adage is true, "there IS no place like home", and The Valley will always hold a special place in my heart. But anyways, enough of the cheese. Here's a bit about my current focuses in art and design:
My key interests in graphic design are logo design, typography, and branding. I am also in the midst of establishing my fine art career so that I can eventually work as a full-time artist-- minus the "starving" part. In school, I explored a number of mediums-- from oil painting to lino cutting, but acrylics always felt right. My current focus is painting portraits of pets and people. I love the challenge of creating realism with acrylics, which are naturally fast-drying. However, the best part comes from seeing how each piece emotionally affects its recipient. I hope to continue creating art for people to cherish and enjoy for as long as I can.

I'd love to hear from you!
